The MDR-10 series is MEAN WELL's ultra-slim 10W DIN rail industrial power supply with a 22.5mm width -- the narrowest DIN rail supply in MEAN WELL's portfolio. Designed for space-constrained control panels, it features a built-in active DC OK signal output that sources current to drive external LEDs, relays, or PLC inputs for real-time power status monitoring -- a capability absent from entry-level HDR and NDR models.

The MDR-10 accepts universal 85~264Vac input (120~370Vdc) with 0.33A/115V, 0.21A/230V AC current and 35A/70A cold-start inrush. Four voltages: 5V (2A), 12V (0.84A), 15V (0.67A), and 24V (0.42A) -- all delivering 10W. Efficiency ranges from 77% at 5V to 84% at 24V. The 120ms hold-up time at 230Vac is exceptionally long for a 10W supply, providing superior brownout ride-through. No-load consumption is <0.75W.

Protection is straightforward: >105% OLP in hiccup mode with auto-recovery, OVP with output shutdown requiring a restart, and short-circuit protection. The MDR-10 uses a metal chassis with FG terminal (unlike the plastic Class II HDR series) -- it requires protective earth. Isolation is 3KVac I/P-O/P, 2KVac I/P-FG, 0.5KVac O/P-FG. How do I use the DC OK signal?

The MDR-10's DC OK pin is an active sourcing output -- when the output voltage is healthy, it sources current at a voltage proportional to the output. You can use it three ways: (a) LED indicator -- connect DC OK to V- through a resistor; (b) Relay -- drives a small relay coil for dry-contact status signaling to a PLC/SCADA input; (c) PLC digital input -- wire directly to a 24V PLC input for real-time power monitoring. Maximum current varies by model: 50mA (5V), 40mA (12V/15V), 20mA (24V).

Does MDR-10 require an earth/ground connection?

Yes. Unlike the HDR series (Class II plastic, no FG), MDR-10 uses a metal chassis with an FG (Frame Ground) terminal that must be connected to protective earth.
