Product Overview

The APV-12 series is the 1.5x power upgrade to APV-8, adding NEC Class 2, LPS (Limited Power Source), and SELV safety certifications -- plus an exclusive 15V model not available in APV-8. It is the only sub-$10 MEAN WELL LED driver with simultaneous Class 2 + LPS + IP42 + SELV, making it the safest budget LED driver for North American installations where Class 2 wiring rules reduce installation cost.

The APV-12 accepts 90~264Vac universal input (127~370Vdc) with 0.2A/230V, 0.35A/115V AC current and 70A/230V inrush. Four voltages: 5V (2A/10W), 12V (1A/12W), 15V (0.8A/12W), and 24V (0.5A/12W). The 5V model delivers 10W. Efficiency ranges from 76% (5V) to 84% (24V). Class 2 certification means output power is inherently limited below 100VA per NEC/UL1310 -- no conduit, no special wiring, significant panel cost savings in North America. LPS provides an additional safety layer for fire-rated installations.

Protection is identical to APV-8: hiccup-mode OLP (>105%) and SC with auto-recovery, and OVP with output shutdown and diode clamping. The 77x40x29mm compact plastic shell with 150mm fly leads (Brown/Blue input 20AWG, Red/Black output 18AWG) enables tool-free installation. Class II double insulation -- no FG required. IP42 rated. An installation reference: at 230Vac, a single 16A C-curve breaker can serve 29 APV-12 units.

How many APV-12 units can I put on one circuit?

At 230Vac input: 17 units on a 16A B-curve breaker or 29 units on a 16A C-curve breaker. This is due to the low 0.2A/230V current draw and controlled inrush. The datasheet provides breaker data for 230V only; consult an electrician for 115V breaker sizing.

Is BIS available for the 15V model?
