Product Overview

The APV-25 series is a significant platform upgrade from APV-8/12/16 -- new 84x57x29.5mm chassis, 5 voltages including 36V, 300VAC surge immunity for 5 seconds, and BIS on all models with no exceptions. It is the first APV with 36V output (ideal for longer LED runs and 36V industrial LED fixtures) and the first with documented surge withstand capability critical for unstable grid installations.

The APV-25 accepts 90~264Vac with 0.4A/230V, 0.8A/115V and 45A cold-start inrush. Five voltages: 5V (3.5A/17.5W), 12V (2.1A/25.2W), 15V (1.68A/25.2W), 24V (1.05A/25.2W), and 36V (0.7A/25.2W). Efficiency: 75.5% (5V) to 84% (36V). The 300VAC 5-second surge immunity is a unique differentiator -- protects downstream LEDs through severe AC grid transients, generator switchover, and lightning-induced surges that would destroy unprotected drivers.

Protection: OVP with output shutdown and restart recovery (not diode clamped as on APV-8/12/16), hiccup-mode OLP (>105%) and SC with auto-recovery. I/P-O/P isolation is 3KVac (slightly lower than 3.75KVac on smaller APVs). Class 2 + LPS + IP42 + SELV safety stack retained. EMC: EN55032 Class B with Harmonics Class A (EN61000-3-2 Class A). Breaker: 9 B-curve / 15 C-curve per 16A.

Certifications: UL8750, CSA C22.2 No.250.0-13, BIS IS15885 (ALL models -- no 15V/5V exclusions), EAC, BS EN/EN62368-1. At 84x57x29.5mm with 130g and 72 pcs per carton. 2-year warranty. ⚠ Not for EU/CN LED lighting.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does 300VAC 5-second surge immunity mean?

The APV-25 can withstand an input voltage surge up to 300VAC for 5 seconds without damage. This is critical for installations in regions with unstable power grids, frequent generator transfer switching, or lightning-prone areas. Standard APV-8/12/16 models do not have this rated capability. It protects not just the driver but also the downstream LED load from surge-induced damage.

Why add 36V output?

At 36V, the same 25.2W requires only 0.7A -- half the current of 12V (2.1A) and 33% less than 24V (1.05A). This means significantly longer LED strip runs before voltage drop becomes a problem, and thinner wiring can be used. 36V LED strips are increasingly available for architectural and cove lighting where long continuous runs are required.

Does APV-25-15 have BIS certification?

Yes. Unlike APV-12-15 and APV-16-15 which were excluded from BIS, the APV-25 series has BIS IS15885 certification on all models including 15V. This makes APV-25 the best choice for 15V LED projects destined for India.

How does OVP recovery differ from APV-8/12/16?

APV-8/12/16 use diode clamping for OVP -- once triggered, the output is clamped and may require a power cycle to reset. APV-25 uses output shutdown with restart recovery -- the supply will automatically attempt to restart after an OVP event. This is better for unattended installations where manual power cycling is impractical.
