The MDR-20 series is the 20W upgrade to the MDR-10 platform -- same 22.5mm ultra-slim metal chassis with three critical enhancements over its 10W sibling: adjustable output voltage (via front-panel potentiometer), constant-current overload up to 160% (vs hiccup mode on MDR-10), and higher output power with 24V delivering 24W (exceeding the 20W series rating). The active DC OK signal, UL508/BIS certifications, and 22.5mm form factor carry forward unchanged.

The MDR-20 accepts universal 85~264Vac input (120~370Vdc) with 0.55A/115V, 0.35A/230V AC current and 20A/115V, 40A/230V cold-start inrush (lower than MDR-10's 35A/70A). Four voltages: 5V (3A/15W), 12V (1.67A/20W), 15V (1.34A/20W), and 24V (1A/24W). The 5V model is rated at 15W due to thermal limits at low voltage; 24V exceeds the series rating at 24W. Efficiency ranges from 76% at 5V to 84% at 24V. Hold-up time is 50ms at 230Vac -- shorter than the MDR-10's 120ms but trade-off for the higher power output. No-load consumption remains <0.75W.

The voltage adjust feature is the headline upgrade: each model has a front-panel potentiometer with meaningful adjustment range (4.75~5.5V, 10.8~13.2V, 13.5~16.5V, 21.6~26.4V). The overload protection switches from MDR-10's hiccup mode to constant-current limiting (105~160%) -- ideal for motor starts, capacitive loads, and battery charging that would trip a hiccup-mode supply. Why does the 5V model only deliver 15W?

How does CC overload differ from MDR-10's hiccup mode?

Hiccup mode (MDR-10): when overloaded, the supply repeatedly turns off and on -- safe for electronics but problematic for motors and capacitive loads that need sustained current to start. Constant-Current mode (MDR-20): limits output current to 105~160% of rated value, allowing voltage to sag but maintaining current flow -- ideal for motor starts, battery charging, and capacitive loads. Both modes auto-recover when the overload is removed.

Can I drop MDR-20 into an existing MDR-10 installation?
