Product Overview

The MEAN WELL XLG-20 series is a 21W AC-to-DC constant-current (CC) LED driver family with IP67 protection, Class 2 power rating, and Type HL certification for Class I, Division 2 hazardous location lighting. It is designed for LED street lighting, architectural lighting, bay lighting, flood lighting, and industrial lighting.

It accepts universal 90~305VAC input and provides three fixed output current options: 350mA (L-Type), 500mA (M-Type), and 700mA (H-Type). With peak efficiency up to 89%, the driver uses a fanless design and operates at case temperatures from -40C to +80C under free air convection.

The metal enclosure carries an IP67 rating for both indoor and outdoor use. Two function versions are available: Blank (fixed output current) and B (3-in-1 dimming: 1~10Vdc / 10V PWM / resistor). The B-type dimming circuit is galvanically isolated from the output for safety. The driver also features no-load/standby power consumption below 0.5W.

Protection includes short-circuit hiccup mode with automatic recovery. The driver complies with global lighting safety and EMC standards including UL8750 Type HL, CSA, ENEC, AS/NZS, BS EN/EN, GB/T, JIS, EAC, IS 15885, and KC, and is backed by a 5-year warranty. Note: a switch must be installed between the mains and the LED driver to meet the latest ErP regulations.

Is XLG-20 a constant-voltage driver?

No. XLG-20 is a constant-current LED driver. It maintains a fixed output current while the output voltage varies within the specified constant-current region based on the LED load. Do not use it to power LED modules that require a constant-voltage supply.

Which version type should I choose?

Blank-Type for simple fixed-current installations. B-Type for smart lighting with 1~10Vdc / 10V PWM / resistor dimming. The dimming port is isolated from the output for safety.

What does Class 2 and Type HL mean?

Class 2 means the output is limited to a safe power level, simplifying wiring requirements. Type HL means the driver is UL8750 listed for use in Class I, Division 2 hazardous location lighting fixtures when installed per manufacturer instructions.

Can I use XLG-20 with LED modules that have built-in drivers?

No. XLG-20 is designed for direct LED string connection. It is not suitable for LED modules with built-in constant-voltage or additional drivers. Direct LED connection is recommended.
