Product Overview

The MEAN WELL ELG-300 series is a 300W AC-to-DC LED driver family designed for both constant-current (CC) and constant-voltage (CV) operation. It accepts universal 100~305VAC input (142~431VDC) and offers 12V and 24V output options, making it a flexible platform for high-power indoor and outdoor LED lighting systems.

With peak efficiency up to 94%, the ELG-300 uses a fanless design and operates at a case temperature of -40C to +85C under natural convection. The sealed metal enclosure carries an IP67 rating, and the 24V model is certified to UL8750 Type HL for use in hazardous location luminaires.

This series is available in A-Type only: output current and voltage can be adjusted through internal potentiometers. This gives lighting designers simple field-tuning capability without requiring external dimming controllers.

Standard protection includes over-current CC limiting, short-circuit hiccup, over-voltage restart, and over-temperature restart. The driver withstands 6KV line-to-ground and 4KV line-to-line surge, complies with global lighting safety and EMC standards, and is backed by a 5-year warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between CC mode and CV mode on ELG-300?

In CC mode the driver maintains a constant current output while the voltage automatically adjusts within the model-specific CC range to match the LED string forward voltage. In CV mode the driver maintains a stable output voltage with a current limit, suitable for LED strips, modules, or loads that expect a fixed voltage bus.

Why does the power drop at 100~180VAC?

ELG-300 delivers full rated power at 200~305VAC but derates at 100~180VAC. The 12V model drops to 224.4W and the 24V model drops to 255W on low input. Size your load accordingly for 120V North American or 100V Japanese installations.

Is the ELG-300 series Type HL certified?

UL8750 Type HL certification applies to the 24V model (ELG-300-24A). The 12V model is not Type HL certified. For hazardous location luminaires, use the 24V version and ensure internal installation.

Does ELG-300 support dimming?

The ELG-300 series is A-Type only, which means it supports output current and voltage adjustment via internal potentiometers, but it does not offer external 0-10V, PWM, resistor, or DALI dimming interfaces. For dimming needs, consider the ELG-75/100/150/200/240 families which offer B-Type and DA-Type versions.
