Product Overview

The SE-1000 series is MEAN WELL's flagship enclosed switching power supply - delivering 1000W across 6 output voltage options from 5V to 48V. With an industry-leading 7.3W/in3 power density, 150A capability at 5V, and system-level features including DC OK signal output, remote ON/OFF control, and remote sense, it is the ultimate cost-effective enclosed solution for large-scale industrial and system-integration applications.

The SE-1000 uses a switchable 90~132VAC / 180~264VAC input (selected via TB2 terminal block) and supports 254~370VDC input. Built around a 55KHz switching design with DC fan cooling and active inrush current limiting, it delivers 1000W across -20C to +60C. Unique features include a DC OK TTL signal for system health monitoring, remote ON/OFF (0~0.8V=ON, 4~10V=OFF), and a 9V model not found in any other enclosed SE/SE supply.

Measuring 278x127x63.5mm, the SE-1000 shares the same width and height as the SE-600 but extends length to 278mm for higher power. Full EMC immunity suite includes ESD Level 3, Surge 4KV line-to-earth, EFT Level 3, and Magnetic Field Level 4 - surpassing the protection levels of smaller SE models and making it suitable for heavy-industrial and utility environments.

The SE-1000 is UL62368-1 (UL/CUL), BSMI CNS15598-1, and EAC TP TC 004 certified with design reference to BS EN/EN62368-1. Note the UVP circuit requires ~5 seconds after AC cycling before restart. Not EN61000-3-2 compliant for certain EU applications. Over-temp protection at 70C (TSW1) with auto-recovery. 2-year warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the DC OK signal and how do I use it?

The DC OK signal is a TTL-level output on the CN3 connector that indicates power supply health. When the PSU is operating normally, it outputs 3.3~5.6V. When the output fails or is shut down, it drops to 0~1V. Connect it to a PLC digital input, SCADA system, or monitoring relay for automated fault detection. This is one of the key features that sets the SE-1000 apart from smaller SE/SE models for system integration applications.

How does the SE-1000 differ from the SE-600?

The SE-1000 delivers 1000W vs 600W - a 67% power increase. Key differences: (1) larger (278mm vs 247mm length); (2) adds DC OK signal and remote ON/OFF control not available on SE-600; (3) 9V model unique to SE-1000; (4) 150A at 5V vs 100A; (5) 7.3W/in3 density vs 4.9W/in3; (6) BSMI certified (not on SE-600); (7) full EMC immunity table including Magnetic Field Level 4; (8) UVP circuit with 5-sec restart delay; (9) TB2 input selection vs switch. Choose the SE-1000 for system integration projects requiring monitoring and remote control.

How does the UVP circuit affect operation?

The UVP (Under-Voltage Protection) circuit prevents rapid on/off cycling. After AC power is applied or cycled off/on, the SE-1000 will not restart for approximately 5 seconds. This intentional delay protects internal components and prevents output glitches. If you need instant restart, this model may not be suitable for your application.

Can the SE-1000 be used in EU countries?

The SE-1000 is not compliant with EN61000-3-2/-3-3 harmonic current and voltage flicker limits. EMC emissions are Class A (industrial), not Class B (residential). It should NOT be used in consumer/residential equipment within the EU or in Class B environments. For industrial/professional EU applications meeting the exemption criteria (>1000W equipment), it may be acceptable - consult your compliance engineer.

How do I wire the remote ON/OFF control?

Connect RC+ and RC- on CN3 to an external switch or relay. Closed contact (0~0.8V) = PSU ON, Open contact (4~10V) = PSU OFF. You can use an external DC source (6~20mA) or a dry contact. This enables automated system power sequencing - turn on the 48V rail only after the 24V rail is stable, for example. Refer to the user manual for detailed wiring diagrams.
