Product Overview

The HDR-100 series is the largest HDR family model -- a 100W Class II plastic DIN rail supply available in two performance grades per voltage: Blank (LPS, up to 92W) and N-type (non-LPS, up to 100.8W). With a 70mm (4SU) width and 90% peak efficiency, it extends the HDR plastic-shell platform to the 100W class -- the first HDR model to offer a choice between LPS safety compliance and raw output power.

The HDR-100 accepts 85~264Vac input (277Vac usable, 390Vdc usable) with 3A/115V, 1.6A/230V AC current. Four voltages with two variants each: 12V, 15V, 24V, and 48V. Blank types carry LPS certification with a narrower voltage adjust range and 102~110% OLP; N-types drop LPS but deliver up to 100.8W with a wider adjust range and 105~150% OLP. This dual-grade strategy lets you choose: LPS for safety-critical installations, or N-type for maximum power where LPS is not required.

All HDR-100 variants share the same Class II plastic body, 4KVac I/P-O/P isolation, 30ms hold-up at 230V, 500ms start-up time, -30~70C operating range, and OVC III compliance. The OLP behaviour is dual-mode: hiccup below 50% Vo, constant current at 50~100% Vo, with auto-recovery in both modes. OVP triggers output shutdown requiring a restart. EMC compliance is Class B with EN61000-6-2 immunity (Surge Level 4 2KV/L-N).

The HDR-100 holds UL62368-1, UL508, TUV BS EN/EN61558-2-16, EAC, BSMI CNS15598-1, and IEC62368-1 certifications, with BIS IS13252 design reference (some models may not carry BIS marking -- contact sales to confirm). At 70mm wide and only 270g, it is the definitive Class II DIN rail supply for building automation sub-panels requiring 85-100W of distributed LPS or high-power DC.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Blank and N-type HDR-100?

The Blank type (HDR-100-XX) is LPS (Limited Power Source) certified, delivers up to ~92W, has a narrower voltage adjustment range, and a conservative 102~110% OLP threshold. The N-type (HDR-100-XXN) drops LPS certification but delivers up to 100.8W (24V/48V) with a wider adjustment range and a more generous 105~150% OLP threshold. Choose Blank for safety-certified installations (fire alarm, access control); choose N when you need every watt and don't require LPS.

Is BIS certification available for all HDR-100 models?

BIS IS13252 is listed in the specifications as a design reference, but MEAN WELL notes that some models may not carry the BIS marking. Contact your MEAN WELL sales representative to confirm BIS availability for the specific voltage and variant (Blank/N) before ordering for India-bound shipments.

How does the dual-mode overload protection work in practice?

Below 50% of rated output voltage, the HDR-100 enters hiccup mode -- it cycles on and off until the fault clears (ideal for dead shorts and wiring faults). Between 50% and 100% of Vo, it switches to constant-current mode, limiting output current to the OLP threshold while maintaining voltage as high as possible -- this lets the supply ride through motor starts and capacitive inrush without tripping. In both modes, the supply auto-recovers once the fault condition is removed.

Can HDR-100 run at 277Vac continuously?

Yes. HDR-100 is rated 85~264Vac with 277Vac listed as usable. This is the standard phase-to-neutral voltage in North American 480Y/277V systems, making HDR-100 suitable for direct connection to building mains without a step-down transformer. Derating may apply at the upper voltage limit -- refer to the derating curve in the datasheet.

How does OVP recovery work on HDR-100?

OVP triggers output shutdown and requires a power-cycle restart. OVP thresholds per voltage: 12V = 14.2~16.2V, 15V = 18.8~22.5V, 24V = 30~36V, 48V = 56.5~64.8V. This differs from the auto-recovery OLP/SCP -- OVP is a latching protection designed to prevent sustained overvoltage damage to connected equipment.
