The SDR-480 series is the largest and most powerful SDR model — a 480W DIN rail supply with Active PFC, 150% peak power (720W for 3s), built-in constant current limiting, and the lowest leakage current in the SDR family (<0.8mA). Designed for large industrial control panels, motor drive systems, and high-power factory automation.

The SDR-480 accepts 90~264Vac input (127~370Vdc) with Active PFC (PF>0.99@115V, PF>0.94@230V). Only two voltages: 24V/20A and 48V/10A, both delivering full 480W with 94% efficiency. The 720W peak for 3 seconds handles massive motor starts and contactor bank inrush. A key addition is the constant current limiting circuit for safe motor starting and battery charging applications.

The 8-pin output terminal provides dual +V, dual -V, relay contacts, and NC (normally closed) terminals for flexible field wiring. Leakage current of <0.8mA is the lowest in the SDR family — critical for medical-adjacent and sensitive electronic applications. Overload and OVP use auto-recovery, and the faster peak recovery cycle (50s at rated load vs 100s on SDR-240) enables more frequent peak power bursts. At 85.5x125.2x128.5mm and 1.6kg, the SDR-480 is the most capable SDR for demanding 480W-class applications.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the hold-up time only 14ms on SDR-480?

At 480W output, the energy stored in the PFC bus capacitors is consumed faster. The 14ms hold-up is still adequate for SEMI F47 compliance and industrial brownout protection. For longer ride-through, consider adding external hold-up modules or using the SDR-240 (20ms) at lower power.

What does the constant current limiting circuit do?

Unlike standard hiccup or latch-off overload, the CC circuit limits output current to a safe maximum without shutting down — ideal for motor starts that draw high inrush, battery charging that requires controlled current, and capacitive loads. Combined with the time-adaptive overload, the SDR-480 handles a wider range of load types than standard DIN supplies.

Why is leakage current <0.8mA important?

Standard DIN rail supplies typically have <1-3.5mA leakage. The SDR-480's <0.8mA is exceptionally low — relevant for medical equipment (reduces patient leakage current), sensitive measurement instruments, and installations where multiple power supplies' cumulative leakage could trip GFCI/RCD breakers.
