Product Overview

The SDR-480P series takes the SDR-480 platform and adds massive parallel capability up to 3840W (7+1 units). The "P" variant replaces the NC contacts with P+/P- parallel bus terminals, enabling active current sharing across up to 8 units — the only SDR model with built-in paralleling.

Comparing to SDR-480: the same 480W single-unit power, 94% efficiency, PFC, CC limiting, 150% peak, and chassis — but with P+/P- parallel pins on the 8-pin terminal, <0.6mA leakage (even lower), 105C OTP (vs 95C), and parallel specs of up to 8 units, <0.2V difference, 90% derating, >3% minimum load. For single-unit applications, SDR-480 is sufficient; choose SDR-480P when you need future scalability or multi-unit redundancy.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does SDR-480P differ from SDR-480?

The SDR-480P replaces the NC (normally-closed) contacts with P+/P- parallel bus terminals, enabling active current sharing across up to 8 units (3840W). It also features lower leakage (<0.6mA vs <0.8mA) and higher OTP threshold (105C vs 95C). For single-unit use with NC monitoring, choose SDR-480. For scalable multi-unit DC distribution, choose SDR-480P.

Can I mix SDR-480 and SDR-480P in parallel?

No. Only SDR-480P units can be paralleled via the P+/P- bus. SDR-480 lacks the parallel terminals and current-sharing circuitry. For parallel applications, all units must be SDR-480P of the same voltage.

What happens if parallel load drops below 3%?

Below 3% of total rated current, only one unit may remain active while others enter standby. For a single 480W unit, that's 0.6A at 24V or 0.3A at 48V — a very light load. For an 8-unit cluster (3840W), keep total load above ~115W to ensure all units share current.
