Product Overview

The XDR-480E series is the flagship of the XDR-E economy family, delivering 480W with Active PFC and a game-changing feature: built-in parallel capability up to 1920W (3+1 units). With 96% peak efficiency, it sets a new benchmark for economy DIN rail power supplies in power density, scalability, and thermal performance.

The XDR-480E accepts 85~264Vac universal input (also 120~370Vdc) with Active PFC (PF>0.98@115Vac / PF>0.95@230Vac). Available in four output voltages - 12V (360W derated), 24V, 36V, and 48V - it delivers up to 30A at 12V and 10A at 48V. The paralleling via P_LINK pin uses droop-mode current sharing: simply short the P_LINK pins on up to 4 units to scale to 1920W with automatic, no-configuration load balancing.

Efficiency peaks at an extraordinary 96% (48V model) — the highest in any economy DIN rail supply. The 15ms hold-up time is maintained at both 115V and 230Vac thanks to the PFC-stabilized bus. Overload protection uses the same smart dual-mode (hiccup below 30%Vo, CC limiting above) with auto-recovery. The parallel operation includes built-in protection: output voltage droops ~4% (12V: ~8%) from no-load to full load for natural current sharing, and all units must be restarted after a parallel overload or short-circuit event.

The built-in DC OK relay contact, OVC III, SELV, 4KVac I/P-O/P isolation, and full global certifications (CB/TUV/UL/CUL/CCC/BSMI/EAC/KC/BIS) remain standard. At 48x125.2x125mm, the XDR-480E is slightly deeper than the 240E to accommodate the higher power density, but maintains the same slim front profile with fanless convection cooling.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the parallel operation work?

The XDR-480E uses droop-mode current sharing via the P_LINK pins (pins 3-4 on the control terminal). Simply short the P_LINK pins on all units to be paralleled. Key specifications: (1) output voltage difference between units must be <0.1V, (2) total current = rated current x units x 0.9, (3) maximum 4 units (1920W), (4) minimum total load >7% of total rated current, (5) output voltage droops ~4% from no-load to full load (12V: ~8%), (6) after overload/short-circuit in parallel mode, all units must be restarted.

Why is the 12V model rated at only 360W?

The 12V model delivers 30A which is 360W — this is a thermal derating limitation at 12V output in the 48mm chassis. If you need full 480W at 12V, consider paralleling two XDR-480E-12 units for 720W total capacity.

How does XDR-480E compare to XDR-240E?

The XDR-480E doubles the power (480W vs 240W), adds parallel capability (1920W), boosts efficiency (96% vs 95.5%), and uses a slightly larger chassis (48x125x125mm vs 40x116mm). The 480E is the choice when you need >240W per DIN slot or future scalability via paralleling. Both share the same Active PFC, smart overload, DC OK relay, and triple safety certification platform.

Can I mix different voltage models in parallel?

No. All paralleled units must be the same voltage model and have output voltages calibrated to within 0.1V of each other. Mixing different voltages will damage the units.

What happens if the parallel load is below 7%?

If total parallel load falls below 7% of total rated current, only one unit (the "master") may remain active while others enter standby. In standby, the slave units' output LEDs and DC OK relays will not operate. Load must exceed 7% for all units to share current normally.
